The USDC Comprehensive Therapy Building showcases the versatility of Lumabuilt Mosaic Planks through extensive use across the building’s exterior cladding and soffit applications. By combining multiple plank sizes and a blend of light and dark woodgrain finishes, the design team created a façade rich in depth, texture, and visual interest. The varied widths and finish tones help break up uniformity, resulting in an organic, natural appearance that complements the surrounding landscape while reinforcing the building’s contemporary architectural character.
While natural timber could have achieved a similar aesthetic, aluminum provided a far more durable long-term solution. Located in northern Utah, the building is exposed to hot, dry summers, seasonal moisture, and cold, snowy winters—conditions that can accelerate weathering, movement, and maintenance requirements in wood products. Lumabuilt’s aluminum planks deliver the warmth and character of natural wood while offering superior resistance to the elements, helping ensure lasting performance and reduced maintenance costs. For a public facility designed to serve the community for decades, the result is a façade that balances architectural beauty with long-term value.
